Description of content and objectives

Confindustria Lombardia is organising the webinar “Beyond CBAM: Towards New Trade Compliance and Sustainable International Trade”, scheduled for 22 February at 15:00.

On 29 January, the European Commission extended the deadline for submitting reports under the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). From 1 February, a new feature was introduced allowing reporting declarants to request a “delayed submission”, granting an additional 30 days to complete the filing.

Furthermore, within the scope of trade compliance, it is important to consider the issue of deforestation. The European Deforestation-free products Regulation (EUDR) stipulates that relevant raw materials and products may not be placed on the market or exported unless they meet specific requirements, including being deforestation-free, complying with local legislation, and the submission of a due diligence statement.

Finally, the regulatory context of the Plastic Tax and the obligations for operators from July 2024 must also be taken into account.

The objective of the webinar is to inform all relevant importing companies about the latest developments in trade compliance and sustainable international trade, enabling them to proactively manage the information and data complexity required, while also considering the differences between various countries of origin.
