Description of content and objectives

Assolombarda is organising the webinar “Navigating the packaging maze: environmental labelling of packaging in Europe”, scheduled for Tuesday 14 March 2023 at 10:00.

Within the context of the circular economy, the environmental labelling of packaging is one of the most impactful and evolving topics in the EU across various types of supply chains. The entry into force of new standards presents companies with new obligations, and one of the major challenges concerns the regulatory and requirement differences across various destination markets at a European level.

This lack of harmonisation also affects EPR schemes (Extended Producer Responsibility), systems designed to ensure manufacturer accountability in managing the stage of the product/packaging life cycle where it becomes waste.

Programme

The topics covered include:

• European legislation on packaging;
• the EU Commission’s proposal for the revision of the Packaging Regulation: new developments regarding labelling;
• extended producer responsibility (EPR): a map of schemes in the EU;
• the lack of alignment in Europe: a focus on key EU countries and other specific markets.

A Q&A session will follow.
