Description of content and objectives

Confindustria Bergamo is participating in the national training programme “Piccole imprese, scelte grandi”, devised by Banca d’Italia, with the aim of promoting financial literacy among small business owners through a series of meetings focused on corporate finance.

Understanding key financial concepts helps business owners make better decisions for the future of their company and engage more constructively with banks, financial intermediaries, and other external parties.

The first meeting, scheduled for Friday 17 May at 9.30 am, will cover the following topics:

• The relationship with the bank: an overview of the most relevant aspects an entrepreneur should consider in their relationship with the bank. Specifically: banking regulations, credit assessment, monitoring of credit relationships, main banking contracts, and loan guarantees.
• Managing financial difficulties: an overview of the signs of financial distress that entrepreneurs should look out for and those typically relied upon by banks. Specifically: corporate indicators for monitoring financial conditions, default classification (implications for the entrepreneur and the bank), payment suspensions, renegotiations, and debt restructuring measures.

The training will be delivered by Banca d’Italia experts in collaboration with the Credit and Finance department of Confindustria Bergamo and will include specialist video contributions followed by a discussion.
