Description

Road freight transport safety is an issue of growing importance, both from a regulatory and a technical-operational perspective, for the protection of human life (both workers and road users), the environment, and the integrity of the goods themselves. In recent years, the European Union has intensified efforts to harmonise relevant regulations, promoting a uniform approach among Member States regarding technical roadside inspections and, more generally, the safety of road freight transport.

Furthermore, the accuracy of loading/unloading procedures and the associated transport are of fundamental importance for reducing workplace accidents.

To provide a common regulatory framework for logistics operators and clients, as well as practical operational tools, Confindustria Bergamo has promoted and coordinated the creation of a Guide dedicated to Transport safety: the role of the loader and the responsibilities of the client, with the contribution of industry experts, which will be presented and made available in a webinar reserved for Confindustria Bergamo members, on 27 January from 10:00 (session ends by 12:00).

Programme

The meeting, which will be held exclusively online, will feature the authors of the guide with the following presentations:

  • Germano Margiotta - Founding partner and managing partner of the law firm Margiotta & Partners - “Regulatory framework, roles and responsibilities: the importance of the contract”.
  • Lorenzo Razzetti - E.C.E. srl - “Technical and engineering criteria for the correct dimensioning, securing and checking of loads”.

The Guide also served as an important opportunity for discussion between the Safety and Transport departments of Confindustria Bergamo, in order to define a common approach to a topic that involves different areas of expertise, including within companies; therefore, it is suggested that all company representatives who, albeit in different roles, may be involved in the subject matter (e.g. Health and Safety Managers, purchasing/sales departments, etc.) be registered for the webinar.
