WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED

A wealthy province, yet one with an uneven capacity to generate prosperity. Densely populated with production chains, featuring long-established manufacturing sectors (aerospace, plastics, household appliances, textiles-clothing-fashion, mechanics, eyewear) and new specialisations emerging, particularly in logistics and information technology. It is not very innovative relative to its potential. Polarised and squeezed between Switzerland to the north and Milan to the south. Well-infrastructured, yet hindered by traffic intensity along certain arterial roads. Above all, it is an area that must climb back up the national rankings for entrepreneurial vitality. This is the snapshot of the Varese economic and social system that emerges from the analysis carried out by the Harvard Business School's Strategique think tank during the drafting of the #Varese2050 Strategic Plan, and from which Confindustria Varese intends to restart in order to build an economic, social and reputational repositioning for the entire territory.

The #Varese2050 Strategic Plan was conceived together with hundreds of businesses and stakeholders, whom Confindustria Varese is now calling upon for a discussion to delve into the five strategic lines that have emerged to reaffirm the Varese area as one of the engines of development for the country and Europe:

  • the construction of a Factory of Knowledge and Know-How: MILL – Manufacturing, Innovation, Learning, Logistics, which will be built in Castellanza next to LIUC – Università Cattaneo;
  • placing industrial clusters at the centre of development policies;
  • the creation of a new innovation ecosystem;
  • la valorizzazione della logistica e di Malpensa come driver di crescita;
