Description of content and objectives

Following the success of the “Future Healthcare Manager” research project conducted in 2021, ECOLE, in collaboration with Confindustria Lombardia, Farmindustria, AIOP Lombardia, the University of Milan, the Polytechnic University of Milan, the Lombardy Life Sciences Cluster, and the Fondazione Sanità Futura, has decided to relaunch the initiative for 2022, with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of actions and services for participating companies.

The work carried out in the first year was based on the shared understanding that the ultimate goal is the “success” and “excellence” of the Lombardy Regional Health Service (SSR), and the common ambition to serve as a benchmark for the rest of the National Health Service (SSN) and the country. This applies both to the performance of the SSR and to the cooperation dynamics of the “system”, where competition becomes “coopetition” when collaboration is in everyone’s interest.

Hence the desire to go further, expanding primarily on operational and systemic aspects by creating a “Lombardy Future Healthcare Forum”, a home and venue for systemic yet pragmatic discussion with and for institutions.

The objective of the residential event on 23 and 24 June is to strengthen a new regional think tank – composed of directors of public and private healthcare companies, representatives of local medicine and pharmacy, healthcare opinion leaders, patient association delegates, business representatives, and university professors – in order to propose shared and innovative solutions to institutional decision makers.

Each stakeholder involved will be able to participate – under the guidance and moderation of academic experts – in specific Working Groups, which will focus on the following topics:

  1. innovative methods for developing procurement processes,
  2. the evolution of local medicine in Lombardy,
  3. the system’s capacity and propensity for digitalisation,
  4. i processi per potenziare il reclutamento dei professionisti sanitari e le strategie di employee retention.

The programme for the two days is attached.
