Description of content and objectives

Promoted by Ance – the National Association of Construction Builders, the Mecenate 90 Association, Cidac – the Association of Cities of Art and Culture, and the Fondazione Musica per Roma, with the patronage of In/Arch, the Festival aims to highlight and promote the strong design capabilities of Italian cities, particularly intermediate ones, by showcasing urban regeneration projects implemented across the country in recent years.

The fourth leg of Città in Scena will focus primarily on projects: a selection of recently completed or ongoing works within the Lombardy region, presented by representatives from local institutions, universities, designers, and businesses, and discussed by experts.

Cities are a central theme, with the PNRR allocating over 48 billion euros to them, 10 billion of which is directly earmarked for urban regeneration, with the aim of improving citizens' quality of life and fostering sustainable urban development.

Following the Bergamo and Brescia leg, the Festival will continue with further stages across Italy, culminating in a major event at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome in December 2023.

The Brescia leg will involve Ance Lombardia, Ance Bergamo, and ANCE Brescia, with institutional and professional figures in attendance to discuss the topic of urban regeneration.

Please note that the exhibition “Brescia ’23. Visions for a present future. City, environment and community” can be visited at Palazzo della Libertà in Bergamo until 17 September, and at the former Cinema Astra in Brescia until 8 October.

The two exhibitions, organised with the support of ANCE Bergamo and ANCE Brescia, use photography to document the transformation of the two cities over time and in form, projecting them into the future. They serve as an invitation to explore both areas and grasp their potential evolution, starting from the existing urban and environmental quality.
