Description of content and objectives

The meeting will present the key findings of an extensive study conducted by the Confindustria Brescia Research Centre in collaboration with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore’s Territorial Observatory (OpTer). The analysis, which also benefited from the support of Fondazione Sodalitas, aimed to map the sustainability initiatives of Brescia-based companies by surveying them on the various ESG factors that define the modern approach to sustainability.

This unique study involved over 350 companies associated with Confindustria Brescia, primarily manufacturing SMEs. It was driven by the conviction that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sustainability is one of the most significant challenges businesses will face in the coming years. Crucially, it recognises that this is not solely a concern for large corporations, but also for SMEs—the backbone of the local and national economy—which often engage in commendable sustainable practices that remain under-recognised and undervalued.

The proceedings will commence at 11:00 am at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Brescia campus, Via della Garzetta 48, and will be opened by Giovanni Marseguerra (Pro-Rector of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Director of OpTer) and Franco Gussalli Beretta (President of Confindustria Brescia). This will be followed by the presentation of the “Sustainable Business Observatory” research by Davide Fedreghini (Confindustria Brescia Research Centre), Tommaso Ganugi (Confindustria Brescia Research Centre), and Daniela Bragoli (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore). The event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring Mario Taccolini (Delegate for Development Strategy Coordination at the Brescia campus, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore), Silvia Mangiavini (Vice President for Legality and Sustainability Reporting, Confindustria Brescia), and Alessandro Beda (Managing Director of Fondazione Sodalitas).
