Statement by the President of Confindustria Lombardia, Alberto Ribolla
Monza, 15 November 2016 – One of the primary operational objectives of the positioning of the Lombardy system regarding Industry 4.0, presented today, will be the establishment of a single Digital Innovation Hub in early 2017. Pursuing its mission and pooling the extensive expertise and excellence found across all its territories, the Lombardy Confindustria system will take responsibility for the design, creation, and management of the regional DIH.
It is now essential to activate a strategic partnership between the Confindustria Lombardia system and the Lombardy Region for the regional implementation and execution of the Calenda Plan. As Confindustria Lombardia, we have welcomed the intention expressed by Governor Maroni to implement the Industry 4.0 Plan at a regional level, integrating ERDF funds with the incentives of the Calenda Plan based on the principle of complementarity, also with the aim of tailoring implementation to local areas. A synthesis effort is now required at the regional level, in coordination with national governance, bearing in mind that to be competitive as a system, the public and private sectors must move in lockstep.
Confindustria Lombardia is ready to play its part. There are already two virtuous examples supporting the manufacturing system where public-private synergy is working towards results: most notably the strategy for the EUSALP Alpine Macro-region, within which Lombardy is carving out a leading role, and the work that could soon lead to our territories hosting the World Manufacturing Forum, the Davos of manufacturing.
“A Lombardy organised in this way sends a strong message to the whole country and is competitive in Europe and globally,” stated Confindustria Lombardia President Alberto Ribolla during the ‘Manufacturing Development – Digital Evolution’ conference organised in Monza by Assolombarda and Confindustria Lombardia.
