Startups, digital and food & wine: Lombardy students learn to be entrepreneurs

Management Game 2018 Final: students from ITES Pitentino in Mantua have won the 26th edition of the regional tournament organised by the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia

Brescia, 11 May 2018 – The final of the Management Game 2018, the business simulation game promoted by the Regional Committee of Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia for third and fourth-year secondary school students, took place today in Flero (Brescia) at the headquarters of Sfida Italia 4.0. As in previous years, the primary objective of the simulation is to introduce young people to business creation and management in an innovative and engaging way.

THE FIGURES – The 26th edition of the Management Game saw the participation of 1,604 students across 43 schools and 423 teams, representing the five participating provinces (Bergamo, Brescia, Mantua, Lecco, Sondrio and Pavia). The tournament consisted of three stages: the school tournament (where multiple classes from the same institution played the "StartUp" Business Game), with the winning class from each school advancing to the provincial semi-final, which utilised the more complex "Digital StartUp" Business Game. The five winning classes from each province competed today using the "Food&Wine" Business Game.

THE WINNERS – The winners, awarded by the regional Education committee and the President of the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia, Federico Ghidini, were the students from the Alberto Pitentino State Technical Economic Institute in Mantua. Also on the podium were students from the Gerolamo Cardano State Industrial Technical Institute in Pavia, who took second place, while the bronze medal went to the Grazio Cossali Higher Education Institute in Orzinuovi (Brescia).

The President of the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia, Federico Ghidini, congratulated all participants after presenting the awards, stating: "Running a business is a metaphor for life, because living means making decisions and choices, with all the risks that these entail: exactly what happens every day in any company. Throughout this tournament, these young people have shown they are ready for life. And, given that this year's theme was food and wine, who knows if the next Bernardo Caprotti is among them," Ghidini concluded, remembering the founder of Esselunga who passed away nearly two years ago.

The Business Game was managed by Artèmat S.r.l, while the final challenge was hosted at the headquarters of Sfida Italia 4.0, the digital factory created by Sei Consulting Srl on the outskirts of Brescia with the support of over 30 technological and industrial partners and the patronage of institutions, led by the Regional Committee of Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia.
