Unanimous support for the Cavaliere del Lavoro and President of OMR – Officine Meccaniche Rezzatesi, who succeeds Alberto Ribolla from Varese
Milan, 14 November 2017 – The Confindustria Lombardia Presidential Council has unanimously elected Marco Bonometti as President for the 2017-2021 four-year term. During consultations with Council members, conducted by the Designation Committee (composed of the last three Past Presidents of Confindustria Lombardia), Bonometti was identified as the sole candidate.
Born in 1954 in Brescia, Marco Bonometti is the Chairman and CEO of OMR - Officine Meccaniche Rezzatesi, a multinational industrial group specialising in automotive components. In 2012, he was appointed Cavaliere del Lavoro by the President of the Republic. During his association activities, Bonometti served as President of the Brescia Industrial Association from 2013 to 2017.
“I would like to thank my colleagues on the Presidential Council for the trust they have placed in me: Lombardy’s industry – stated the newly elected president Marco Bonometti – has reached this appointment with great cohesion. This unity must guide us along the new path we are about to embark upon together, and it will represent the added value needed to carry more weight and continue to compete: only through unity can we assert the leadership of Confindustria Lombardia, both towards our regional, national and European stakeholders, and internally, towards our own system.”
“In particular, regarding the Lombardy Region – continues Bonometti – we will continue our collaboration and dialogue for the growth and development of Lombardy, with a specific focus on the manufacturing of the future, the cornerstone of our economy. Dialogue with the regional government will also be fundamental in light of the path the Region has undertaken to further increase its competencies.”
“Furthermore, to be a key player at both a national and European level, Confindustria Lombardia will increasingly integrate the skills and projects present in our territories: in Lombardy, we have the resources, people and capabilities at the highest levels in Italy. We will leverage this potential and contribute to creating a stronger, more modern industrial system and, through it, a more competitive country,” concluded Marco Bonometti.
The President of Confindustria, Vincenzo Boccia, attended the Confindustria Lombardia Presidential Council meeting: “While wishing the newly elected president Marco Bonometti the very best, I would like to thank Alberto Ribolla for the work he has done, with whom we have shared the importance of the industrial issue for the country. I appreciate the unanimous consensus: a choice by Confindustria Lombardia that rewards two presidents, Ribolla and Bonometti, who both possess great experience within the association system,” declared the President of Confindustria.
The new President of Confindustria Lombardia finally thanked his predecessor, Alberto Ribolla, for all the commitment shown and the significant results achieved during his four-year presidency.
