Turin ‘Infrastructure for Development’ event

Statement by Marco Bonometti, President of Confindustria Lombardia

“If we are still talking about infrastructure in 2018, it means we have wasted time in the past and are a country without a future. The primary strategic infrastructure of our country is business, and that is why we must invest in it. If we do not understand this, we will have no growth or development. For Confindustria Lombardia, it is essential to build the infrastructure needed to close the gap with the main European regions. The regions within the Alpine macro-region—Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria, Veneto, Trentino, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Emilia Romagna—must work together to support strategic projects. At the same time, the regions of Central and Southern Italy must be enabled to bridge the gap with the North. A modern infrastructure system that meets the mobility needs of goods and people creates favourable conditions for businesses and citizens alike, by reducing transport costs, ensuring reliable transit times, and increasing the competitiveness of the entire country.”
