Management Game: 26th edition underway

The 2018 edition of the regional Business Game organised by the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia

Milan, 2 March 2018 – The Regional Committee of Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia held a half-day training session today at its Via Pantano headquarters in Milan for teachers from schools participating in the 2018 Management Game, who will oversee the gaming phases within their respective institutions.

Following last year’s record-breaking edition (77 schools and 797 teams, involving a total of 3,188 students), today marks the official launch of the 26th Management Game, a business simulation designed to introduce young people to business creation and management in an innovative and engaging way. The Management Game, promoted by the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia, is open to third and fourth-year students from Lombardy’s secondary schools.

Federico Ghidini, President of the Lombardy Young Entrepreneurs, expressed his enthusiasm: “I wish the students and schools taking part in the tournament the very best of luck. The goal of the Management Game is to foster an entrepreneurial culture among young people by immersing them in business activities and everything they entail: risk, planning, organisation, and satisfaction. These students are the Lombard entrepreneurs of tomorrow; they may not know it yet, which is why the greatest ambition of the Management Game is to help them discover it,” stated Ghidini.

During the meeting with the teachers, a practical simulation of the game was conducted: the teachers were divided into teams and managed a virtual company on the platform to better understand the game's dynamics, identify potential challenges, and consult with the tutor.
Business games are an innovative training tool through which student teams are
immersed in a competition that highlights problem-solving and creativity, but
above all, strategic analysis and decision-making. In the Management Game, each team of 3–4 members represents and manages a simulated company. The game is divided into simulation rounds, with each round representing six months of business operations. At the end of each round, teams can analyse market results and revise their strategies to improve their market position. The objective is to lead a virtual company to market success by increasing its value.
The Management Game will take place in three phases:

- School Tournaments: a phase involving competition between the various teams within each school. The winning teams from each school tournament will advance to the second phase;
- Provincial Tournaments: a competition within each province between the teams that won their respective school tournaments; the winners of each provincial tournament will advance to the third and final phase;
- Regional Tournament: a competition between the teams that won their respective provincial tournaments;

The tournament will conclude in May with an awards ceremony for the top three schools.
