Lombardy, Industria Felix: "7 out of 10 companies increase turnover"

Bonometti (Confindustria): "Let us rebuild a cultural foundation that recognises business as a protagonist." Awards for 85 Lombardy companies

MILAN, Sunday 3 March 2019 – 71.8% of Lombardy's SMEs and large enterprises have increased their turnover compared to the previous year. This is according to the survey conducted by the new semi-annual Industria Felix Magazine, edited by Michele Montemurro, in
collaboration with the Cerved Group S.p.A. research department, based on the analysis of approximately 33,000 financial statements for the 2017 fiscal year (the latest available in full) of joint-stock companies with registered offices in Lombardy and turnover/revenue between €2 million and €19.8 billion. Regarding the sample analysed, companies recorded positive signs in 81.1% of cases for ROI and 86.5% for ROE, while 86.8% generated profits.

The results of the survey will be presented in detail at a provincial and regional level on Tuesday afternoon in Milan
at the Auditorium Testori in Palazzo Lombardia, on the occasion of the launch of the new periodical and the third edition of the
Industria Felix Award - Lombardy Competes, organised by IFM in collaboration with Cerved, the Lombardy Region, LUISS Guido Carli University, the Industria Felix cultural association, with the patronage of Confindustria and Confindustria Lombardia, and in partnership with Banca Mediolanum, Lidl Italia, and Grant Thornton Consultants.

The event will be attended by 85 companies, which will receive awards for best management performance and financial
records. Following the introduction by Montemurro and Cerved Marketing Director Valerio Momoni, opening remarks will be given by
Lombardy Region Vice President Fabrizio Sala and Confindustria Lombardia President Marco Bonometti. Further speakers will include Banca Mediolanum President Ennio Doris, Lidl Italia Finance CEO Luca Boselli, Grant Thornton Consultants President Roberto H. Tentori, Il Sole 24Ore Editor-in-Chief Fabio Tamburini, and Professor of Industrial Economics

at LUISS University Cesare Pozzi, and the spokesperson for the Industria Felix Scientific Committee, Filippo Liverini. The proceedings will be concluded by
Lombardy Region President Attilio Fontana and Confindustria President Vincenzo Boccia. The conference will be moderated by
journalist, author, and Rai 1 executive Angelo Mellone.

"The Industria Felix Award represents not only a recognition of corporate performance, but also a way to highlight the
values that companies uphold, which constitute the great business culture that is the heritage of Lombardy, its entrepreneurs, and their employees."

This is the view of Confindustria Lombardia President Marco Bonometti, who adds: "Business culture generates benefits for everyone, and the dissemination of its values is a prerequisite for a society with more innovation, competence, rigour, business ethics, and meritocracy. We are at a very delicate stage for our country, where an effort is required from all stakeholders—institutions, businesses, associations, and civil society—to achieve the growth and development goals that would allow Italy to regain the confidence it needs, both internally and externally, to face European and global competitiveness challenges."

According to the President of Confindustria Lombardia, "we must, however, rebuild a cultural foundation that recognises business as a key player in the creation of prosperity, wealth, employment, and the future. Those with government responsibilities," concludes Bonometti, "must be fully aware of this, particularly at such a delicate time when growth and confidence are at risk."
