Management Game becomes a school-work alternation programme

Memorandum of Understanding between the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia and the Regional School Office

Milan, 24 March 2017 - The Regional Committee of Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia and the Lombardy Regional School Office have signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the Management Game.

The agreement provides for the traditional business game promoted by the Regional Committee of Young Entrepreneurs across all Lombardy territories to officially become a school-work alternation programme for the 2016/17 academic year, allowing participating schools to certify the hours as work experience.

In this way, in line with the guidelines on school-work alternation set out in Law no. 107 of 13 July 2015 and the Lombardy model defined over the years by the Regional School Office in close collaboration with the Lombardy Confindustria system, activities carried out as part of the Management Game can now be officially recognised as the acquisition of curricular skills by the students involved.

As explained by the President of the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia, Federico Ghidini, who promoted the agreement, “The change introduced by signing the protocol with the Lombardy Regional School Office brings an important innovation to the Management Game after 20 years. While the business simulation game was previously considered an activity that ended once the tournament and awards ceremony were over, this experience now carries greater educational and didactic weight, comparable to an internship. For the Young Entrepreneurs of Lombardy, who have always focused on developing skills to reduce the mismatch between labour supply and demand, this represents a fundamental achievement for the regional education sector,” concluded Federico Ghidini.

As stated by Delia Campanelli, Director General of the Regional School Office for Lombardy: “In this region, we have long established a productive relationship with the Confindustria network on these issues, which has allowed us to implement various initiatives to foster an education system that is increasingly integrated with the needs of the labour market. School-work alternation in Lombardy is a vibrant reality, consisting of many experiences and various forms of activity. The Management Game was already a well-established experience, which, thanks to our collaboration with the Young Entrepreneurs, we have now managed to enrich and strengthen, offering schools a further opportunity. I firmly believe we are on the right path, working together to improve young people's ability to put their talents to use and to grow both professionally and culturally.”

The regional final of the 2016/2017 edition of the Management Game, organised by the Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria Lombardia in collaboration with BTS Italy, will be held on 6 May 2017 at the Siam headquarters in Milan.
