Mobility Conference Exhibition - MCE 2016
Milan, 7 March 2016 – “Through its macro-regional strategies, Europe has indicated a new approach to the challenges shared by specific territories, regardless of national and administrative borders. The goal of the Alpine Macro-region will be to become a major area of aggregation and collaboration, engaging with the European Union to strengthen its position as a key economic and innovation hub, driving the economy of the entire continent. We are talking about a strategic area that brings together 7 States, 48 Regions, 3 Engines of Europe, and 80 million people, representing nearly 3 trillion in GDP,” stated Confindustria Lombardia President Alberto Ribolla during his speech at the 2016 edition of the Mobility Conference Exhibition.
“EUSALP, whose strategy is based on three fundamental pillars (Development of competitiveness, prosperity and cohesion; Promotion of sustainable mobility; Sustainable management of energy and the environment), represents a great opportunity for Lombardy: this will mean focusing on our main assets, above all the excellence of our manufacturing sector as a driver of development, growth, innovation, and well-being.”
“To fully develop its potential, the Macro-region must become a highly interconnected area, with rapid, efficient, and competitive transport systems through greater integration of both digital and transport infrastructure. It is in this regard that the industrial associations of the regions participating in EUSALP have created the ‘Manifesto for sustainable and integrated mobility in the Alpine Macro-region’, a document strongly supported by Confindustria Lombardia, which has long advocated for the creation of EUSALP as a tool to strengthen the link between businesses and territories: one of the strategic lines identified in the #Lombardia2030 strategic plan, for a region in synergy with neighbouring territories and strongly integrated into the European context,” concluded Ribolla.
