Today marks the start of the new governance that will lead Lombardy's largest Confidi through the 2016-2018 three-year period, with significant development objectives to support the local economy.
Milan, 20 May 2016 – The first General Meeting of Confidi Systema! has appointed the new Board of Directors to lead the most important Confidi in Lombardy for the 2016-2018 period, following the merger of five intersectoral Lombardy-based guarantee consortia.
Today, during the General Meeting held at the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti, the members confirmed Lorenzo Mezzalira as Chairman and elected Piero Giardini as Deputy Chairman. Joining them on the Board are: Marilena Bolli, Lorenzo Capelli, Marco Galimberti, Davide Galli, Claudio Gervasoni, Matteo Lasagna, Eugenio Massetti, Antonello Regazzoni and Rodolfo Stropeni.
The new Board of Statutory Auditors was also appointed, with Gilberto Gelosa as Chairman, Alessandro Tonolini and Mario Comana as Standing Auditors, and Matteo Rossi and Alberto Bolzoni as Alternate Auditors.
This phase confirms the valuable synergy achieved between the trade associations, Confindustria Lombardia, Confartigianato Lombardia and Confagricoltura Lombardia, united in pursuing a higher collective interest and aiming for leadership in the credit guarantee sector, a position already validated daily by all banking partners.
The newly elected Board of Directors will face the challenge of an ambitious Business Plan, which focuses on qualitative and quantitative growth with particular attention to capital and economic ratios, while proposing a set of measures and actions to drive the growth of member companies and, consequently, the local economy.
“We have started on the right foot,” states Chairman Lorenzo Mezzalira. “The quantity and quality of our work, and the credibility shown by the banking system in accepting 98% of the proposals submitted to it, are testament to this. The first few months of 2016 saw the company deeply engaged in defining all organisational activities aimed at establishing post-merger stability. The key strategic choice was to break sharply from many variables typical of the Confidi system. However, today,” continues Chairman Lorenzo Mezzalira, “we believe we have already organisationally absorbed the significant extraordinary components linked to the merger. And we are ready for the next challenge.”
Major organisational interventions include the networks, information systems, the new location, the use of biometric signatures, the new 'Finanza Subito' product (386 requests for €16.7 million), the completion of the transfer of business units to the financial agencies of the relevant associations, and, not least, the application for registration in the new Single Register of Financial Intermediaries under Article 106 of the Consolidated Banking Act (TUB).
Confidi Systema! has created the first Italian alliance between Confartigianato, Confagricoltura and Confindustria, presenting itself as a new entity with strong capital, a solid financial position and great growth potential to strengthen and increase the efficiency of the Confidi system and maximise the effectiveness of credit services for SMEs.
Performance in these first few months shows over 2,700 requests for assistance from members, totalling approximately €200 million. The average service delivery time is less than 15 calendar days, and the success rate with banks is over 98% of the proposals approved by Confidi.
Building on these figures, the company aims to act as a catalyst for trust in the region, encouraging companies to do the same and growing together towards the revival of the real economy.
