Alberto Ribolla, President of Confindustria Lombardia: EUSALP must be a functional area for manufacturing development
Brdo, 26 January 2016 – “Confindustria Lombardia has long invested in the Alpine Macro-region as both an opportunity and a challenge for our businesses. The territorial aggregation within EUSALP creates one of Europe’s primary manufacturing hubs, with the potential to compete and excel in global markets. This challenge – stated Alberto Ribolla, President of Confindustria Lombardia – cannot be met by individual companies alone, but must be supported by the entire regional and national system. For Lombardy, this represents a global challenge for a wide geographical area, focusing in particular on Lombardy, Liguria, Piedmont, and Veneto, as well as neighbouring Switzerland, aiming to become a major global economic hub capable of driving regional and national economies. All of this will be possible by focusing on the excellence of our manufacturing sector as a driver for development, growth, innovation, and prosperity.”
“The new era of manufacturing will be characterised by agile and interconnected companies that skilfully use and analyse information, employing talent and machinery to provide products and services in a diverse global market. The Alpine Macro-region must become a major area functional to this objective in order to build a truly smart industry; however, this requires multi-level governance that ensures effective inter-territorial coordination and defines project aspects, as well as financial and regulatory tools, by involving both the public and private sectors,” concluded Alberto Ribolla, who spoke at the launch conference of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Macro-region in Brdo as part of the panel “Building and increasing knowledge Policy area 1: Economic growth and Innovation”.
