Statement by Marco Bonometti, President of Confindustria Lombardia
The strength of Italian industry has always been represented by its supply chains, and now by its clusters. Since its inception, I have supported the Lombardy Mobility Cluster as a member company throughout its growth and evolution. Today, as Confindustria Lombardia, through the Cluster Project, we have a 360-degree view of all 9 Lombardy clusters, with the opportunity to contribute to their growth and consolidation at a regional level. In Lombardy, the level of cluster development is more advanced than in other Italian regions, yet we must direct our efforts and resources appropriately to ensure these clusters establish themselves with increasing strength at a European level, interacting more effectively with international cluster networks.
To this end – continues Marco Bonometti – Confindustria Lombardia will focus its efforts on working with the Regional Government to ensure the implementation of a clear strategy that enables sustainable, long-term growth for clusters. We aim to strengthen links with regional development policies, encourage cluster participation in European initiatives, and establish a constant dialogue between the Region and the clusters to identify the needs and challenges of the relevant supply chains, with the goal of increasing the impact of clusters on the local area. Clusters are a strategic asset for the growth and development of the manufacturing industry: without support for supply chains, Italian industry cannot compete in global markets.
